CEC Recent Events
Conferences and Trainings
CEC attended the Natural Areas Conference in beautiful Bloomington, Indiana in October 2018. Interesting topics included incorporating climate change vulnerability assessments into planning, restoration ecology, improving habitat for pollinators, and a field trip on improving forests for rare species of bats and birds.
CEC is actively seeking work in climate change vulnerability assessments. Owner, Melissa Greulich, has taken several trainings on vulnerability assessments for wildlife and plants. In order to prepare for potential climate change impacts, resource managers have been utilizing climate change vulnerability assessment tools, which characterize the vulnerability of a habitat type or species to climate change based on a set of parameters. Results may be integrated into management plans for habitat and identified species vulnerable to climate change and provide recommendations for future management, mitigation, and adaptation strategies.
CEC recently started an exciting new Trail Condition Assessment project for Lake Pueblo State Park. CEC will assess the condition of trails for safety purposes and proximity to important biological and cultural resources, in order to improve and maintain the wonderful trail system the Park currently offers.
CEC was selected with a team of other Colorado biologists for the US Forest Service Region 2 IDIQ wildlife surveys contract. Region II consists of 11 national forests in Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Kansas, and Nebraska.
